Hartlepool’s favourite band, The Jar Family, start their 5 day debut tour of Cornwall on Wednesday 8 August at The New Inn Tywardreath. Kezia, Cornwall’s rising folk songstress will be supporting them on some of their tour dates.
The Jar family are Max Bianco, Dali, Al Devon, Richie Docherty, Chris Hooks and former Squeeze bassist Keith Wilkinson, they are joined by , Kerry Edwards on Cajon and James Clarke on keys. They have a considerable collection of acoustic roots rock songs, and are no strangers to Cornwall, their debut album ‘The Jar Family Album’ was recorded at Sawmills Studio and engineered by John Cornfield (Muse, Supergrass, Razorlight, Oasis, Athlete) as has the second album, this will be the first time for them performing in Cornwall however.
The Jar Family have been touring the country in the past year, after releases of both singles ‘Poolie Strut’ which has become an anthem in Hartlepool, and ‘In for a Penny’ with the accompanied video being shot in Cornwall at Sawmills and the River Fowey. They have played prestigious venues such as O2 Academy in Newcastle and had festivals billings at Hop Farm Festival and Wychwood amongst others. From support slots with The Christians, Alabama 3, Ocean Colour Scene's Steve Cradock, The Charlatans and The Fall, and their heartfelt songs it’s easy to see why these boys are rapidly gaining new fans and growing in stature on their travels.
Kezia, hailing from Camborne seems to be fast becoming the most talked about rising artist in Cornwall. With songwriting skills far beyond her tender years and a voice so mesmerizing, it is actually possible to forget to breathe whilst watching her. Kezia has recently supported Feeder and Fascinating Aida, and will be playing The View Stage at Boardmasters this year. After a weekend at the Olympic Village performing you can see her with The Jar Family at The New Inn, Lusty Glaze and Gylly Beach Café.
